EU-T0 Partnership with PRACE

PRACE and EU-T0 team up in a data pilot call to provide computing time and data storage, analysis and archival capacities for European researchers.
EU-T0 Logo

The EU-T0 consortium was initiated in 2014 by CERN, CIEMAT, DESY, IFAE, IN2P3, INFN, KIT and STFC, funding agencies and organisations which between them fund and provide very large scale computing and data processing resources for a set of scientific communities. (For more information: http://www.eu-t0.eu)

On 9 Feb 2015 the 11th PRACE Call for Proposals for Project Access was launched. It includes a pilot call with EU-T0 offering the possibility to couple storage capacity from the EU-T0 data centres to PRACE HPC resources. Thanks to the collaboration with PRACE, applicants of the 11th call can request resources to deposit computational results either throughout or after the end of PRACE computational grants.

EU-T0 provides data storage, up to 150 TB per project (1 PB in total), at the following EU-T0 centres: CC-IN2P3, DESY-IT, INFN, KIT-SCC, PIC, STFC/GridPP until at least end of February 2018, free of charge. This data storage can be used with PRACEs standard access/transfer technologies such as GridFTP, scp and partially also UNICORE.

Additional long-term archival capacities can be provided on request from the EU-T0 centres and individually negotiated after a PRACE computing time project is granted. Please indicate this option in your computing time proposal to PRACE. In order to exploit this collaboration and request access to EU-T0 resources, applicants should apply via the PRACE web site http://www.prace-ri.eu/prace-project-access/

The 11th Call for proposals for PRACE Project Access (Tier-0) is open from 9 February 2015, 13:30 CET, until 18 March 2015, 12.00 (noon) CET.
