SDM - Scientific Data Management

The department Scientific Data Management (SDM) develops and runs data facilities (LSDF, GridKA) to process, to store and to archive large-scale scientific data of different research fields e.g. Astroparticle and Elementary Particle Physics, Biology as well as data from the ANKA Synchrotron Radiation Facility.

Within the scope of the project Large Scale Data Management and Analysis (LSDMA) our Data Life Cycle Labs are supporting researchers of various disciplines when storing and processing their data. We are taking all aspects of data life cycle management into account, even to the point of long term- archiving of data. We also develop community-specific tools and services together with scientists of different research fields.

The Smart Data Innovation Lab (SDIL) - running at SCC - creates the best conditions for a close collaboration work between science and industry and for excellent research in the field of big data engineering/smart data.
