intelligent Zero Emission Urban System (iZeus)

iZeus (intelligent Zero Emission Urban System) is the follow-up project of the research project MeRegioMobil. Its goal is to spur the aspects of SmartGrids and SmartTraffic in the light of the growing importance of electromobility in Germany and Europe with the help of academic research and realistic field tests. An important component within the project is the development of a novel service platform that permits to design and test innovative electromobility services. This platform thus forms a central interface between all participating alectromobility acteurs, such as car manufacturers, power suppliers and service providers. The platform also constitutes the foundation for the electromobility concepts tested during iZeus's field test.

Within the iZeus project, the research group Decentralized Systems and Network Services (DSN) designs, implements, and evaluates such a platform, in cooperation with other KIT research groups. In particular, challenges in the field of service interoperability, scalability, and privacy are addressed. Therefore, modern Cloud and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technologies are adopted.
