The SCC participated in the HPC exhibition at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC'14) in Leipzig from June 23rd to -25th June 2014. The ISC exhibition is the largest HPC fair in Europe. It includes more than 170 exhibitors and had over 2500 visitors this year. Beside of the major hardware vendors, the major European computing centres and a wide variety of software vendors from the public and industrial sectors were well represented at the exhibition.
Thanks to its different wallpapers, a PowerPoint presentation on two large screens and cups in a stylish KIT design, the SCC booth attracted several hundred visitors. A prototype panel from the CMS detector of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (Geneva) attracted particular interest; the LHC is one of the main sources of Big Data stored at SCC. Conversations between visitors and SCC specialists focused on infrastructure and research in the fields of Supercomputing and Big Data.
