GÉANT Project GN4-3

The GÉANT Project has grown during its iterations (GN1, GN2, GN3, GN3plus, GN4-1 and GN4-2) to incorporate not just the award-winning 500Gbps pan-European network, but also a catalogue of advanced, user-focused services, and a successful programme of innovation that is pushing the boundaries of networking technology to deliver real impact to over 50 million users.

GÉANT Project GN4-3

The GÉANT project has grown over the course of its iterations (GN1, GN2, GN3, GN3plus, GN4-1 and GN4-2) and includes not only the award-winning 500 Gbps pan-European network, but also a catalogue of advanced, user-centric services and a successful innovation programme that pushes the boundaries of network technology to deliver real benefits to more than 50 million users.

The GÉANT network provides the high-speed connectivity needed to share, access and process the vast amounts of data. These data are generated by and are essential to a variety of research and educational communities in fields such as particle physics, bioinformatics, earth observation, drug discovery, and arts and culture.

The SCC is working in the GN4-3 project within GÉANT in the Trust and Identity domain, where the development of effective trust and identity systems is crucial for GÉANT and the wider research and education community.

This research focuses on improving technologies that address the needs of campuses, identity federations and research communities. Some of this research will develop services that improve eduGAIN, and others will provide supporting technologies for federated identities.
