Benutzerkonto (Account, Passwort)
For all KIT employees, the KIT user account, also known as the KIT account, is the basis for many IT services that users in the KIT network require. It provides access to systems and services and is generally used as a "login" in the KIT environment.
Daten (Speichern, Teilen, Verwalten)
The state service bwSync&Share is an online storage service for employees and students of universities and colleges in Baden-Württemberg. It has been operated at KIT since January 1, 2014 and enables users to synchronize or exchange their data between different computers, mobile devices, and users.

Der Campus Online Printing Service (COPS) ermöglicht das Absenden (Hochladen) von Druckaufträgen über eine Webschnittstelle an die zentralen Druckmaschinen von »Print & Plot« am SCC.

KIT students and staff can print A3 and A4 documents as well as large formats up to a maximum of 89cm on the short side on the central printers and plotters.

For cutting large-format print media, the SCC provides a professional cutting table with a cutting width of 1,800 mm. It is located in the basement of the SCC directly next to the elevator shaft and can be used by all KIT members free of charge and without registration.

This service is used by KIT employees and students to compile and administer their own mailing lists. These lists can be configured for different applications e.g., as moderated lists, discussion forums, or newsletters.

Use this procedure to report malicious messages and spam to the SCC. An email clearly identified as a malicious message can be moved to the Spam_KIT folder in your mailbox by participants in the malicious email and spam reporting process. KIT students and staff can participate in the reporting process.

The Service Desk is the central contact point of the SCC for all inquiries, problem reports and requests concerning the IT services of the SCC. Requests that the SCC Service Desk cannot answer directly are forwarded via a ticket system to teams of experts within the SCC. You will be informed automatically by e-mail about the current status of your request.

The ticket system of the SCC is used to record and process all requests to the SCC. In addition, organizational units of the KIT (OU) can use the SCC ticket system to manage OU-specific support processes.
Homeoffice
Microsoft Teams is a cloud platform that combines chat, meetings, video conferencing, notes, collaborative file editing and sharing, and to-do's. This supports teamwork, even with colleagues working from home office.

The SCC provides this platform as a collaborative tool (in the context of the Corona crisis) for each KIT employee using its own KIT account.

This service provides the user with external (INTERNET) access to internal resources of the KIT (INTRANET).

Devices with network connection in the network of KIT (KITnet) communicate via this service and can access the internet and intranet, guest network, and contractors’ network.

Video conference for oral examinations

For conducting oral examinations via video conference, KIT hosts the web application Jitsi Meet. Apart from a suitable web browser, no other software needs to be installed. The KIT recommends the use of this service for conducting oral examinations via video conference.

This service provides KIT organizations with a pool infrastructure for computer-aided exercises.

For the duration of the protection measures during the corona crisis, the SCC provides remote access to the centrally managed pool computers. Further information can be found in this news article.

Server & Systeme (VM, Hosting, Housing)
Der Landesdienst bwCloud SCOPE stellt als Clouddienst virtualisierte Server- und Anwendungsinfrastruktur für Mitarbeiter, Wissenschaftler und Studierende der Universitäten und Hochschulen in Baden-Württemberg bereit.
In der bwCloud können pro Betriebsstandort über 1.000 virtuelle Maschinen mit individuellem Betriebssystem und Software betrieben werden. Der Dienst läuft auf dedizierten Serversystemen an den vier Betriebsstandorten Mannheim, Ulm, Freiburg und Karlsruhe - das sind insgesamt also mindestens 4.000 virtuelle Maschinen zum verteilten Betrieb von Servern und Anwendungen. Genug Ressourcen für zahlreiche Projekte.
