Outlook 2016 KIT mailbox


Kaspersky or Bitdefender blocks Outlook: If you use Kaspersky or Bitdefender as an antivirus program, you must enter oa.kit.edu and autodiscover.kit.edu as trusted addresses.

  • Kaspersky Internet Security
    • Settings\Network settings\Trusted addresses
  • Kasperky Business
    • Basic protection\Protection against web threats\Trusted web addresses
    • General settings\Network settings\Trusted addresses
  • Bitdefender
    • Protection\Online threat management\Exceptions\Manage exceptions


Add another account in Outlook:

"File - Account Settings - Account Settings - New".

Create new Outlook profile in Windows:

"Right-click Start - Control Panel - User Accounts - Email (32-bit) - View Profiles - Add".

If you have multiple Outlook profiles, pay attention to which profile is used when Outlook starts or enable profile selection.



  • The first time you start Outlook, you will be greeted by a wizard to set up your account, which you should follow.
  • Click "Next".
  • Do you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account: Yes
  • Click "Next".
  • Normally Outlook will fill in your namend and email address automatically
  • If not, enter the following data:
    • Email address: Firstname.Lastname∂kit.edu as employee
      (Students: uxxxx∂student.kit.edu; Guests and Partners: ab1234∂partner.kit.edu).
    • Leave the password blank!
  • Click "Next"
  • You may need to log in with your kit.edu account.
    • Username: firstname.lastname∂kit.edu as employee.
      (Students: uxxxx∂student.kit.edu; Guests and partners: ab1234∂partner.kit.edu)
    • Password: your appropriate password.
  • Click Finish

Outlook configuration is successfully completed.
