Adobe Academic Software Contracts

This includes both Adobe Enterprise Term License Agreement (ETLA) and Adobe Cumulative License Program (CLP) licenses. In addition, alternatives to Adobe are listed.

Adobe Enterprise Term License Agreement (ETLA)
The LRZ has again concluded a framework agreement "ETLA Point Consortium" for the German area. KIT joined this framework agreement, so we have again a secured operation from 11/23/2022 to 11/22/2025.
Current software is basically only available in the form of two packages:
- Creative Cloud All Apps currently consists of:
Creative Cloud Desktop Application, XD, Substance 3D Stager, Substance 3D Sampler, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Modeler, Substance 3D Designer, Premiere Rush, Premiere Pro, Prelude, Photoshop, Media Encoder, Lightroom Classic, InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, Fresco, Dreamweaver, Dimension, Character Animator, Bridge, Audition, Animate, After Effects, Acrobat
Additionally, packages for design and video are provided. If you only install the Creative Cloud desktop application, you can then compile and install your own portfolio directly in the app.

For data protection reasons, the purchaser must agree to the transmission of data (first name, last name, and kit.edu email address) to Adobe for each purchase (named user and share product) and must therefore purchase the license himself in the store. Offline ordering is not possible for this reason.
Creative Cloud All Apps is available as a Named User license and a Shared Device License (SDL), Acrobat Pro is only available as a Named User license. When you purchase a named user license, the license is tied to an identity, the data (first name, last name, kit.edu email address) is entered into the Admin Console at Adobe, and then a license is mapped to that identity.
An SDL is limited to one workstation that is used by multiple people in succession, such as pool room or even part-time workstations. One license must be purchased per workstation and it is mapped to that workstation in the Admin Console. Authorization at SDL is again done by registering an identity with Adobe, i.e. it is user-based. The mapping to the SDL licenses is done via the "purchase" of a separate free participation article (declaration of consent as above).
The following products can be ordered:
- Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps - Named User € 870
This license is bound to the buyer and can therefore only be ordered once. The license can be authorized on two workstations, but cannot be used simultaneously.
A corresponding account will be created at Adobe. You will receive an automated email from Adobe with information on how to password protect the account, for example. - Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps - Multi User Device - SDL € 870
This shared device license (SDL) is intended for pool workstations or workstations where, for example, part-time employees work. This license is bound to one workstation, but can be used by several users one after the other. Here you can buy as many licenses as you like. There is no automated entry of the buyer. (see product 4) - Adobe Acrobat Pro - Named User € 174
This license is bound to the buyer and can therefore only be ordered once. The license can be authorized on two workstations, but cannot be used at the same time. A corresponding account will be created at Adobe. You will automatically receive an email from Adobe with information on how to password protect the account, for example. - Participation in Creative Cloud All Apps Multi User Devices - SDL € 0.00
This article is exclusively for obtaining the authorization to use a shared device license at KIT. This article can only be ordered once per customer. You will automatically receive an email from Adobe with information on how to password-protect the account.
Once you have ordered one of the products in the store, you will find the installers for the new products on the pickup shelf or under downloads.
After purchase, please wait until Adobe has created your Enterprise account. This usually takes a maximum of 24 hours. Always log in to Adobe with your Enterprise Account to use these licenses. If you already have a "private" account at Adobe and use this account for the ETLA software, you will have a trial version afterwards and have to completely uninstall and reinstall everything again. The same happens if you use installers directly from Adobe's download offer.
If you receive a profile selection when logging in to Adobe, please always use the profile "PC-LRZ-KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology". Only then will the license be assigned cleanly.
Installing the new packages
Before installing, please uninstall all existing Adobe software first.
For installation on Windows systems, at least product version 1803 must be present there.
To make sure that there are no relics left on the machine, you should clean the system with the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool or the Acrobat Cleaner Tool:

Now you can install the new software. Please select one of the installation packages Design, Video or All Apps among the downloads in the software store. The fewer apps you install, the fewer problems you will encounter during installation and later during operation.
If you need special combinations of products, please contact the maintainer.

Then please remove the serial number via a terminal window as described below. You can then check this again with the AdobeExpiryCheck tool. It should now no longer find any entries.

IMPORTANT also for ITBs: Please first consider whether you may still have old serial number based legacy software that you previously managed through the Adobe Licensing Website (LWS) https://licensing2.adobe.com/ .
Before deleting your account, be sure to export the data (serial numbers, ...) from the LWS, as access to the site is only possible with the private account.
Rights of use, excerpt from the contract:
- Shared Device License: One license is required per computer. Each licensed copy of the software may be installed on only one desktop computer.
- For user-based licenses, each user may activate the software on up to two computers, but the user may not use the software on the two computers simultaneously.
- Deployment of SDL in pools is permitted. Student use is also permitted there.
- The products may only be installed on computers that are owned or rented/leased by the participant (=KIT) or that the participant (=KIT) alone can actually dispose of, regardless of ownership.
Adobe Cumulative License Program (CLP)
The Cumulative License Program (CLP) framework contract for institutes and chairs (employees) runs from 08.01.2021 to 07.01.2023. The following products can currently still be ordered via the CLP contract. Some of these are old versions. It is to be expected that individual products will be dropped from the portfolio over time.
In the case of desktop products, the main user of the computer for which the product was licensed can also use a copy of the software at home or on a mobile computer, but only for work-related purposes. It must be ensured that the software is not used simultaneously. Installation and use on students' PCs is not possible, but provision in a pool for use by students is permitted.
