The SCC offers an information event "Network administration at KIT" for interested IT representatives and IT administrators.

In addition to our established contact channels and training courses, we offer the HPC Café at regular intervals (every first friday of a month).
 
The event will take place from 10 am to 12 pm with a keynote speech, which will be followed by a discussion.

Abstract:

Hybrid solvers for combinatorial optimization problems combine the advantages of classical and quantum computing to address challenging computational tasks. While theoretically promising, their practical applicability remains difficult due to the lack of a technological stack that seamlessly integrates quantum solutions with classical optimization frameworks.
In this presentation, we introduce the ProvideQ toolbox, a software tool that enables users to adapt and configure hybrid solvers via Meta-Solver strategies. These strategies implement decomposition techniques that divide problems into classical and quantum subroutines, allowing for flexible and efficient hybrid optimization. The ProvideQ toolbox facilitates the interactive creation of such decompositions through a Meta-Solver configuration tool, integrating well-established classical techniques with quantum circuits executable on multiple backends.
Alongside the introduction of ProvideQ, we also provide a general overview of the quantum computing and quantum software domains, setting the stage for understanding the challenges and opportunities in hybrid quantum-classical optimization.
 
Of course, a question and answer session is also planned. Here, users can address HPC-related topics and problems. We will try to find solutions together.

On May 9, 2023, the first RSE workshop @ KIT took place to mark the kick-off the KIT-internal (unfunded) subproject 9.1.4 as part of KIT's digitalization strategy.
 
The project team now would like to invite you to the 2nd Workshop on RSE @ KIT on July, 7, 2025, to present what was achieved and build up in the 2 years project runtime, and to foster community building among RSEs and those interested in RSE.

The aim of the NHR conferences is to bring together HPC users working on selected topics, varying each year. Users of the NHR Centers will have the opportunity to present their projects in a poster session or contributed talk, and to exchange ideas with the consulting and operational teams of the NHR-Centers. 

For next year's conference at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, the topics are: 
• AI in Social Sciences 
• Life Sciences
• Data Management & Storage

Join us in Tübingen on September 23rd for the 11th bwHPC Symposium, an interdisciplinary conference spotlighting scientific projects and success stories leveraging high-performance computing and the BaWü data federation in the context of bwHPC-S5. Tübingen, the host city, is home to our bwForCluster BinAC2 for Bioinformatics, Astrophysics, Geosciences, Medical Informatics and Pharmacy. It also serves as coordinator for the HPC Competence Center for Bioinformatics and Astrophysics in Baden-Württemberg. The bwHPC-Symposium is a yearly event, free for all scientists in Baden-Württemberg. It fosters active dialogue between researchers, bwHPC service operators, and members of the bwHPC-S5 support centers.
