    The old license server scclic5 will go out of service on 8/1/2023.

    Creo Parametric is a volume-based CAD software that allows convenient creation of 2D and 3D designs. It is the central element of a complete product development family from Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC).

    Particularly noteworthy are:

    • Unambiguous 3D solid model
    • Uniform data model from the sectional view to the 2D drawing and NC program compilation
    • Changes in 3D are immediately transferred to 2D and vice versa
    • creation of models by production-oriented functions, such as drilling, milling, chamfering, etc.
    • Collision checks
    • calculations of physical properties such as mass, center of gravity, moments of resistance, surface, etc.
    • convenient design management and history
    • realistic, color-shaded model representation

    Creo Parametric is a CAD system widely used in industry with particular strengths in 3D design, but also in production. It has already been used for several years as part of a campus license. The software is thus available to all KIT institutions free of charge. Access is controlled by license managers.

    Use by students on their home computers is not permitted. PTC provides free licenses for students. These can be requested directly via a web interface:

    License terms

    If the Licensed Product is designated as "Priced for Education" or as "Professor's Edition/Version" or as "Academic Edition/Version", Customer must be enrolled or employed at a degree-granting institution and may use the Licensed Product for educational purposes only. If Customer does not meet any of these criteria, Customer is not eligible to use the corresponding Licensed Products. Specifically, research not related to educational purposes or funded research for educational purposes conducted using the facilities of an academic institution or under an academic name is not considered "educational purposes," and use of Software intended for educational purposes for such purposes is a violation of the License Agreement.

    License Manager

    License managers for Creo Parametric are available on the machines
    scclic7.scc.kit.edu
    scclic4.scc.kit.edu
    (port 7788 in each case).

    For redundancy reasons, you should always enter all relevant license managers in the PTC setup.

    When installing Creo, proceed as shown in the following graphic. Under Source, simply enter the two license managers (7788@scclic7.scc.kit.edu and 7788@scclic4.scc.kit.edu). You can get a second input field by pressing the "+" button. Under Status it should say "available". Do not perform either of the above steps under any circumstances.

    Change license manager afterwards

    You can change the license manager afterwards by starting the reconfigure.exe program at <PTC-Installation-Home>\Parametric\bin.
