From May 18 to 22, SCC at KIT hosted this year’s NHR Summer School. Fellows of the NHR Graduate School from across Germany came together to deepen their expertise in High-Performance Computing (HPC), expand their professional networks, and gain new inspiration for their research.
The opening poster session highlighted the importance of scientific exchange. Participants presented their research projects, discussed current challenges, and connected with fellow researchers from different institutions and disciplines. The programme also included a career development workshop led by the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS).
One of the highlights of the Summer School was an excursion to the SCC at KIT Campus North. There, the fellows gained insights into KIT’s research and computing infrastructure and visited the HoreKa supercomputer, one of Germany’s leading HPC systems.
Hands-on workshops delivered by experts from KIT, the University of Paderborn, and RWTH Aachen covered topics including Research Software Engineering, Performance Engineering, Julia, MPI, and research data management. SCC experts contributed training on software development best practices and performance optimization for scientific applications.
By combining advanced training with interdisciplinary exchange and networking, the annual NHR Summer School supports the next generation of HPC researchers and strengthens Germany’s HPC community.
