About ArcGIS Pro (ESRI)

ArcGIS Pro from Esri Deutschland GmbH is the ArcGIS product family and serves as the primary tool for professional GIS work, having succeeded the legacy ArcMap application (retired by Esri in March 2026). It combines 2D and 3D mapping, spatial analysis, data management, and imagery processing in a single, modern interface.
Key capabilities include:
-
Mapping and cartography: creating production-ready 2D and 3D maps, thematic layouts, and custom symbology, with support for exporting map content directly into graphic design formats such as Adobe Illustrator.
-
Spatial analysis: Geoprocessing tools, analytical models, and spatial statistics applied to 2D, 3D, and time-aware data to detect patterns, understand relationships, and identify optimal locations and routes. More than 100 pretrained machine learning and deep learning models are built in for solving complex spatial problems and generating predictions.
-
Data management: Tools to manage simple and complex spatial data, including parcels, indoor data, imagery, and utility networks, with advanced editing tools supporting versioned data and multiuser editing.
-
Imagery and remote sensing: Tools for classifying land cover and detecting change over time, along with management of imagery from satellites, drones, aircraft, and lidar sources.
-
Automation and customization: ModelBuilder offers a no-code environment for chaining geoprocessing tools into reusable models, which can be shared or exported to Python, while the built-in Python API (ArcPy) and Jupyter-based ArcGIS Notebooks support advanced automation and reproducible research.
