The SCC User Survey, conducted from November 2025 to January 2026, provides an up-to-date and nuanced picture of the usage and perception of central IT services at KIT. A total of around 1,150 people participated—including approximately 800 employees, 300 students, 50 guests, and partners—and evaluated the services in terms of quality, relevance, and usage.
The results showed a clear focus on the central basic services: Above all, Wi-Fi, VPN, email and storage services such as the OE directory and the personal directory are firmly embedded in everyday work and study life and are frequently used by a large number of users. Other SCC services, such as Zoom, BigBlueButton, mailing lists or archiving services, play a significantly smaller role by comparison.
It is worth highlighting the overall positive result, with a solid average rating of 3.8 on a scale of 1 to 5 and a very high perceived importance of 4.2 points. However, there is a need for action, particularly regarding even more consistent, proactive information about the service portfolio surveyed. Furthermore, it became clear that describing scenarios for the more efficient use of various services is helpful. Based on the feedback in the open-ended comments, it is possible to further develop the named services in a targeted manner.
The survey confirms that the IT services at KIT function reliably and play a key role in the work of users.
