14th MESSy Symposium

From 19 to 21 May 2026, the fourteenth annual MESSy Symposium will take place at the SCC, bringing together leading international experts to discuss the wide range of applications of the Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy). MESSy is a modular coupling framework that links physical and chemical submodels with an atmospheric base model (e.g. ECHAM, ICON, or COSMO), thereby enabling a consistent simulation of different components of the Earth system. In such coupled configurations, not only the atmosphere - from the troposphere up to the mesosphere - but also the ocean, vegetation, and processes at the land surface can be represented. MESSy is being used at KIT at the Institute for Meteorology and Climate Research (IMK) and at SCC in the Simulation and Data Lab Earth System Sciences.
